Wendy Shay has added another major honour to her career after winning Artiste of the Year at the 2026 Ghana Music Awards USA.
A major diaspora recognition
The ceremony was held on Saturday, August 8, at the Carnegie Centre in Princeton, New Jersey, under the theme “Music for the Stars.” Musicians, professionals and fans gathered to celebrate Ghanaian music across 35 award categories.
The Artiste of the Year field included several of the country’s biggest names, among them Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Diana Hamilton, Piesie Esther, Black Sherif, Sarkodie, Medikal and Kofi Kinaata. Wendy Shay’s win placed her at the centre of a competitive year for Ghanaian popular music.
A wider year of nominations
She was also recognised in the Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste of the Year category and earned a Most Popular Song of the Year nomination for “Crazy Love,” her collaboration with Olivetheboy.
The award strengthens Wendy Shay’s international profile and underlines the role diaspora ceremonies play in connecting Ghanaian artists with audiences outside the country. For fans, it is another marker in an evolving career built across performance, releases and collaborations.
